Introduction

According to the Council Directive 77/187/EEC of 14 February 1977 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the safeguarding of employees' rights in the event of transfers of undertakings, businesses or parts of businesses, Official Journal L 061, 05/03/1977 P. 0026 – 0028 statutory provisions protect employees if the business is transferred to another entity or employer. Questions concerning the transfer of business are very difficult to answer.
