Termination and Dismissal

Introduction

In addition to an employees contractual rights, such as to receive notice of termination, there is overlaid a whole raft of statutory legislation which takes precedence and cannot be contracted out of.  HR professionals, line managers and consultants must be aware of the various legislative demands of this area, if expensive mistakes are to be avoided.

This section is designed to give the reader an insight into current legal obligations in Ireland and looks at when employees can be dismissed, with or without notice, the correct procedures to follow and the potential claims that can arise where an employer gets it wrong.
